Earn a Certificate in Hospitality & Tourism or a Certificate in Management from the University of California, Riverside (UCR)!

The program includes 6 months of paid academic training at Walt Disney World® Resorts in Florida!

Course work (traditional and online formats), site visits, and paid work experience articulates as BUSN, MARK and HOSP credits! See table.

2012 Program Dates:

June 30 or July 1 - Arrival at UCR
July 2-16 - Academic course work and orienation at UCR
July 17 - Fly to Walt Disney World® Resorts near Orlando, Florida.  Start 6 months of course work and full-time, supervised, paid academic training
December 28 - Return home

Application Information:

  • Download an application form.
  • Application deadline:  Friday, January 20, 2012.
  • Please submit completed applications to Karen Ng, Douglas International, Room 2800, New Westminster Campus.

Selection and Program Procedures: Disney ambassadors (cropped)

  • Douglas International forwards selected applications to UCR.
  • UCR assesses applications and recommends list to Disney for interviews.
  • Interviews for Douglas College applicants will take place on Monday, February 27, 2012:  David Lam Campus in the morning, New Westminster Campus in the afternoon.
  • Successful applicants will be offered a role Walt Disney World® Resorts within a week after their interview.
  • Successful applicants have 2 weeks from offer date to accept role, pay a US$450.00 non-refundable application fee to UCR and submit proof of financial resource of US$8025.00.
  • Once finances have been confirmed, UCR will issue a DS-2019 which candidates use to make appointment to be interviewed by the U.S. Embassy for the J-1 visa.  Canadian and US citizens do not require a J-1 visa application.  Canadians will be interviewed at the US port of entry.
  • Once visa has been approved, candidates make airline reservation as a school group.  Airport pick-up by UCR available only to group arrivals.

Award and Scholarships

Canadian and landed immigrant Douglas College students can be eligible for these three awards:

$500 International Studies Award
(A 2.75 minimum cumulative GPA is one of the eligibility requirements.)

 $1000 One World International Scholarship
(A 3.00 minimum cumulative GPA is one of the eligibility requirements.)

$5000-$10000 Premier's International Scholarship
(Same application form as the One World International Scholarship.
A 3.33 minimum cumulative GPA is one of the eligibility requirements.)

 Application deadline:  4pm on Friday, March 9, 2012.
