Strategic Planning Directions for 2009 to 2012

(NOTE: CSL = community service-learning; CBR= community-based research)

 

Divisional Strategic Direction #1: To work with students to achieve their academic, professional and employment goals (engagement, delivery models, and aboriginal learners)

  1. Develop and implement a system to arrange and support student participation in interdisciplinary community service-learning (CSL) and community-based research (CBR) projects  that have a health promotion focus.
  2. Provide a range of resources for faculty, students and the community related to the development and implementation of interdisciplinary CSL and CBR experiences.

 

Divisional Strategic Direction #2:  To enhance and strengthen the local, regional and international profile of Douglas with the regional community and in the BC post-secondary system (professional and academic schools, local and international partnerships)

  1. Work in close partnership with the community , through the Community Advisory Committee, selected core agencies and other community agencies/groups to fulfill the mission and overall goals of the Centre. 
  2.  Provide a  venue for health promotion activities (in concert with student participation) for community agencies and groups.
  3. Act as a health promotion and health promotion educational resource for community members

 

Strategic Direction #3: To provide high quality curriculum, program and faculty development
(Professional development, program review and renewal, research and scholarly activity)

  1. Develop capacity in and partnerships for community based participatory research.
  2. Collaborate with the Centre for Academic and Faculty Development to address  faculty learning needs re CSL and CBR.
  3. Seek grant funding opportunities to enable Centre/community projects and act as a resource, coordinating and administrative centre for funding initiatives that support the Centre and its projects.
  4. Evaluate the effectiveness of Centre operations .
