Study in Australia in Summer 2012 with the Australia Field School Program!
Earn 6 or 9 Douglas College credits in just 7 weeks - 3 weeks here, 4 weeks based at Central Queensland University (CQU), Rockhampton!
- ECON 1250 - Principles of Macroeconomics - instructor Gilbert Fick - 3 credits
- MARK 1120 - Introductory Marketing - instructor David Moulton - 3 credits
Option to take additional course offered by CQU: HRMT 11010 Organizational Behaviour
- course articulates as BUSN 3310 (Organizational Management Skills) or SOSC 2140 (Behaviour in Organizations) at Douglas College, both worth 3 credits.
- tuition: AU$1250 (approx. CAD$1350) due Mon. Feb. 20, 2012
- course begins in online format on Mon. Feb. 27, 2012

2012 Program Dates:
April 23 - May 10 - Douglas College courses at New Westminster campus
May 11 - Depart Vancouver
May 13 - Arrive at CQU Rockhampton
May 14 - Courses continue
June 8 - Courses finish
June 9 - Option to return home, extend stay or travel elsewhere.
Planned activities include visits to,
- Aboriginal Dreamtime Cultural Centre
- Myella Farm for an overnight stay. Option to go horseback riding, motorbiking, 4WD farm touring, cow milking and sharing a meal around a campfire
- Cooberie Park, a wildlife sanctuary with kangaroos, koalas, dingos, pythons and birds
- Yeppoon, a small coastal beach town
- Great Western Hotel for a bull-riding event and dinner
- Great Keppel Island or the North Keppel Island Environmental Education Centre for an overnight stay
Free time on weekends for the beach, shopping, etc.
Program Fee: $3000, $2900 if complete application is received by Friday, January 27, 2012.
Program Fee covers tuition for those taking CQU course (Option B only), homestay accommodation and meals, transportation to and from campus on school days, several guided excursions, access to computer labs, wireless networking, swimming pool, tennis courts, gym, fitness classes, etc. on campus, and travel medical insurance.
Not covered are passport application, Douglas College tuition and other student fees, textbooks, airfare, airport transfers in Vancouver, and personal expenses.
Program Application and Payment Information:
- Download application form. A $500 deposit is due at the time of application (cash, cheque made out to "Douglas College", VISA, MasterCard accepted).
- $100 off application deadline: 4pm on Friday, January 27, 2012
- Final application deadline: 4pm on Friday, March 2, 2012
- Program Fee payment deadline: Friday, March 16, 2012
- Douglas College tuition and other student fees payment deadline: late March after Commerce & Business Administration staff registers particpating students in courses
- Please note that airfare, Program Fee, Douglas College tuition and other student fees will be due on different dates.

Canadian and landed immigrant Douglas College students can be eligible for these two awards upon successful application:
$500 International Studies Award
(A 2.75 minimum cumulative GPA is one of the eligibility requirements.)
$1000 One World International Scholarship
(A 3.00 minimum cumulative GPA is one of the eligibility requirements.)
Application deadline: 4pm on Friday, March 9, 2012.
Student Loan applicable!
Students who are on a Student Loan for the Winter 2012 semester can apply to extend their loan for the purposes of attending this field school. Please visit the Financial Aid Office for more information.

Students registered at other Canadian post-secondary institutions are welcome to apply for this trip!

Official transcript from current institution is required as part of Admission application.
Admission application fee: $30 (domestic students) / $100 (international students).
After admission, you can register in late March/early April 2012 for our program by going to douglascollege.ca/application-services.
