Youth International Internship Program
Douglas College International manages the Youth International Internship Program funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). Internships offer post-secondary graduates from across Canada the chance to gain international work experience to help them develop the knowledge and skills to build successful careers in Canada and abroad.
Douglas College has received CIDA funding to support 15 interns working in social service positions in Uganda. Interns will spend one month in Canada and five months in Uganda. Positions begin on October 1, 2010 and complete on March 31, 2011.
These placements offer Canadian graduates a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community education and community health positions in a developing country. Interns will also receive training on how NGOs work, the types of jobs within those organizations and how to pursue a career in social services at home and internationally.
