Confidentiality
We respect the concerns you may have about the privacy of the material that you share with your counsellor.
This information will be held in strictest confidence.
Your counsellor may consult with other Douglas College counsellors for purposes of professional supervision.
Nothing will be released to third parties without signed consent, except when required by law.
If a counsellor or her files are subpoenaed he or she will have to disclose what is asked from him or her by the courts.
Counsellors are also required by law to report clearly imminent dangers to self and/or others and instances of current child abuse.
If you wish certain information to be shared, we will do so only with your fully informed consent.
