Steps to become a Student at Douglas College

Step 1

  • View the Douglas College Calendar on line.
  • Do you know what program you want to take?  Make an appointment with a Counsellor.
  • Do you meet the admission requirements? Check the calendar for General Requirements and Program Requirements.
  • Do you have the prerequisites?  English 12 with a C and any others your program requires.
  • Have you attended an Information Session on your program?
  • Check out the Application Guide for what to do before you apply.

Step 2

  • Apply to Douglas College on line.
  • Submit high school transcripts if applying more than six months after graduating from High School.
  • If you have attended other Post Secondary Institutions you will need to provide Douglas College with an Official Transcript(s).
  • If you are planning to use some of the courses you took at a Post Secondary Institution to meet prerequisite requirements at Douglas College please be sure to complete a Transfer of Credit form available from the Registrar's Office.

Step 3

  • Apply early for sponsorship from your band or agency.  Most bands and agencies require 3 or more months notice prior to your registration and fee payment date.  These dates are not the same as the day classes begin.
  • Any questions about sponsorship funding should be directed to your band or agency.

Step 4

  • If you require to do an Assessment Test please go to the website for information on the tests and the dates and times they will take place.
  • Arrange for an appointment with an Academic Advisor several weeks before your registration date to decide which courses you should take for your program for this semester.

Step 5

  • On-line registration - you will be sent by the Registrar's Office a date and time to register.  If you do not receive a date and time please call the Registrar's Office and have your student number handy.
  • Use the on-line Registration Guide and Course Schedule to plan your timetable.  The College does not prepare a time table for you.

Step 6

  • Introduce yourself to the Aboriginal Student Services Co-ordinator and discover for yourself what is available students.  Have a great Semester!
