French
If you haven't yet had the opportunity to explore Canada's other official language, or would like to build on your existing French knowledge, Douglas is a great place to start. Douglas College offers French courses for everyone from beginner to intermediate speakers. With our unique approach to language instruction, you'll learn oral and written communication skills, as well as an understanding of the Francophone culture.
For a complete list of French courses, see the Douglas College Calendar. You will find the schedule of our current course offerings by clicking here. Select the term and then choose "Languages" from the "Subject" menu.
Note to mature students:
If you wish to take French courses only and do not fulfill Douglas College general admission requirements, please contact one of the instructors. You may be granted special status to allow you to enrol in a French course.
Assessment
If you have little or no knowledge of French (or if you took up to and including French 10 in BC), you may register for the Introductory course, MODL 1101, without assessment.
All other students (including those who took French 11 and/or 12 in BC), please refer to the Douglas College Calendar (under Assessment) to find out which level of course you may register in.
