Facilities
All courses in the Health Care Support Worker program are taught at the state-of-the-art Health Sciences Centre at the David Lam Campus.
You'll learn in high-tech labs and specialized learning facilities within the new $39.3 million building, which features:
Simulation Labs - specialized labs featuring Human Patient Simulators (computer-driven, full-sized, human-like mannequins). The Simulation Labs allow you to gain experience until your patient-care skills become second nature.
Home Health Labs - two fully furnished apartments for home-care instruction. You’ll practice your knowledge and skills in realistic situations.
Communications Labs – specialized labs where you will practice communications skills and client interactions with real “clients” (hired actors).
You'll also have access to the Health Sciences Learning Resource Centre, where you can access over 100 software programs, interactive video and CD-ROM applications. A comprehensive list of Software, Interactive Video Applications and CD-ROM Programs is available.
As a Douglas College HCSW student, you may also be involved in projects and learning in collaboration with students from other programs and community members through the Douglas College Center for Health and Community Partnerships.
