Vision Care Centre

The Dispensing Optician Program offers learning and retail facilities that are unique in Western Canada. The Vision Centre's lab features state-of-the-art equipment for finishing eyewear as well as instruments for measuring and fitting contact lenses.

The Vision Centre offers brand name eyeglasses, sunglasses and contact lenses to the public and the Douglas College community. College students, employees, alumni and their families enjoy substantial savings on all Vision Centre services.

Our licensed opticians offer personal attention and quality work. Hanna Pham, Manager of the dispensary and Wendy Russo, assistant, each have over 20 years experience helping customers choose the best lenses and fashion frames to suit their needs.

FAQ's

Do I need to make an appointment?

We are open for retail business between 9:30 and 5:00 Monday to Friday. You can come by any time to purchase eyeglasses however, we do prefer you call for an appointment for contact lenses.

Do you offer a good selection of frames and lenses? Contact Lenses?

Yes, we carry many of the popular name brand frames and the best quality lenses and contact lenses at preferred pricing, fully warranted by the manufacturers.

How long does it take to make my glasses?

It takes from 1 hour to 1 week depending on the prescription. At DC Vision Centre you will receive prompt service and quality work by our licensed Opticians.

Do you do frame repairs?

We do all types of frame repairs at very reasonable rates and as quickly as possible. Customers who purchase their eyeglasses at DC Vision Centre are entitled to free cleaning and adjustments as well as minor repairs for the lifetime of their glasses.

Do you do vision testing?

We do not do vision testing and recommend you see your Doctor or Optometrist.

Can you direct my bill to my insurance plan?

We can bill direct to Manulife, Social Services, Indian Affairs, RCMP or DVA only.

Do you have a Contact Lens Study Group?

Once a year we look for contact lens patients for our study group. You can apply to be on our list (for appointment or for more information on the program call 604-777-6004 and leave a message).
