Courses

You'll learn all of the technical skills required to dispense eyeglasses and contact lenses. First you'll learn the theory; then you'll put it to work in our Vision Care Centre. Most of our courses involve hands-on work.

Your first-year courses will cover optics, anatomy, physiology and eye conditions. The labs provide skills in edging, fitting, tinting and customizing eyeglass lenses. Courses also concentrate on developing the communications and customer service skills you need to excel behind the counter.

Your second year focuses on developing skills for contact lens fitting.
These skills provide the knowledge and experience to complete the procedure of fitting contact lenses by implementing patient pre-fit evaluation, instrumentation measurements and post fit evaluation. The courses also provide necessary skills for managing a contact lens practice.

Both years include practicum courses, which require students to gain job experience.
