Partnership

Douglas College, UBC Faculty of Dentistry and the Fraser Valley Health Authority have created an innovative co-operative community service program to provide children with dental care. Douglas College dental assisting and UBC dental students work collaboratively under supervision to provide treatment to children referred to the program by the Fraser Valley Health Authority.

Children participating in this clinic must be referred through their local public health unit:

Douglas College Preventive Care Clinic

Douglas College has a limited number of seats available for individuals seeking routine and preventive care services. Services provided may include polishing, radiographs (x-rays), application of fissure sealants and fluoride treatments and preventive oral health education. Patients are examined by a dentist and have the prescribed treatments provided by Certified Dental Assisting students under faculty supervision.

Patients should be between four and 25 years of age and not in immediate need of restorative care. (Fillings, extractions, root-canals etc are not available).
