Accounting Certificate

Program details

If you are looking for a part-time, concentrated accounting program that can work around employment or family responsibilities, the Accounting Management Certificate is a great choice. The program is offered on a flexible schedule, with evening and weekend classes. There are three intakes per year: Fall (September), Winter (January) and Summer (May). You’ll graduate with an Accounting Certificate and the skills you need for a variety of entry-level positions.

Further education

If you are interested in taking your accounting career a step further, you can transfer seamlessly into the Accounting Management Diploma Program.

Upon completion of the Accounting Diploma, you can continue your education and expand your employment opportunities with our Bachelor of Business Administration Program.

Admission requirements

To gain admission to this program, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Douglas College General Admission Requirements
  • Because both Principles of Mathematics 11 with a minimum grade of "C" and Academic English 12 with a minimum grade of "C" are prerequisites to many courses offered in the Accounting Certificate Program, you should complete both prior to beginning the program.

Note that students with work experience may also be considered. If you think you have work experience in the field, contact the department for more information.

Upgrade for business programs

If you need to upgrade your reading, writing, math or word processing skills, consider the Pre-Business Foundations Program. Financial Aid may be available for students who those who qualify. Please see the Pre-Business Foundations website for more information.

How to apply

Since classes are offered on a rotational basis, you can start studying in Fall (September), Winter (January) or Summer (May). It is recommended that you apply at least three months prior to your intended start date. To improve your opportunities at registration, it is strongly advised that you apply as early as possible, but not more than one year in advance of the intake.
