The Office for New Students (ONS) would like to thank everyone who has volunteered to help with Late Summer Orientation! Due to an overwhelming response to our call for volunteers we are no longer accepting applications.

FAQs
Q: Do I need to attend all of the training sessions?
A: Training sessions are mandatory. Part 1 training session is on July 21st at the New Westminster campus. You have two choices for part 2 : either August 15 at David Lam or August 16 at New Westminster. If you cannot attend the training session(s), please contact us at information@douglascollege.ca
Q: Will I get the volunteer role I have chosen?
A: In the volunteer application form we asked you to pick your first choice volunteer role and then also your second pick. We will try to accommodate your choices but unfortunately sometimes this is will be unavoidable.
Q: Do I need to prepare/ bring anything for training?
A: All you need to bring is a pen, yourself, good appetite and willingness to learn and mingle!
Q: Where do I get details regarding training and Orientation Days?
A: There are various ways to get updates regarding the Late Summer Orientation. One: we will do an extensive training which covers most information you’ll need to prepare for Orientation. Two: We have a Facebook page, exclusively for you, volunteers to keep up as to what we’re up to in ONS and some announcements we’ll be sending out. If you do not have Facebook, don’t worry… we’ll also be sending out reminders and updates through email. Lastly, of course, this website will hopefully, help you get as much information as you need.
Q: Where is the Office for New Students (ONS) located?
A: The Office for New Students are located in both campuses.The New Westminster Campus ONS is located in Room 2847. It’s diagonal from financial aid and across from the Women’s Centre.The David Lam Campus ONS is located in Room A1360. It’s beside the Learning Centre and across from the Training Group.
Q: Are there any other volunteer opportunities outside of the Orientation dates?
A: Of course we have! We do need some help in preparing for the actual date, so please contact Roisin (David Lam -Coquitlam Campus) and Aiko (New Westminster Campus) if you are interested in the pre-day preparation. As for a longer term involvement, we manage a Student Ambassadors Program in the College. Please head to the Student Ambassadors website for more information
