Employment

What are your job prospects in the field of Child, Family and Community Studies?

CFCS graduates have been very successful in finding employment.  In the 2009 BC Survey of Former Students (A provincial survey of all diploma level students in BC one year after completing their studies) 94% of the former students in the employment sector are working in the field.

Job openings in careers related to the Faculty of Child, Family and Community Studies (CFCS) are projected to be average over the next few years, with about 60% of the new positions being created to meet new demands in the field and the remaining positions opening up due to staffing changes and retirements according to Work Futures (a major career-assessment project of Human Resources and Skills Development Canada and BC's Ministry of Advanced Education).

New workers seeking those jobs will require college training, according to Work Futures:

"The minimum requirement for community and social service workers is completion of a two- or three-year college or university program in social work, child and youth care, counselling or other social science or health-related discipline.

For more information, visit the Work Futures website.
