Dean's Message

Welcome to the Faculty of Child, Family and Community Studies.

The Faculty of CFCS is proud to offer you a 33 year history of high quality, innovative human service programming. The Douglas College Faculty of CFCS is known for its wide range of human service programs and unique multi-disciplinary integrated curriculum. We offer a variety of Citation, Certificate, Diploma and Post Diploma programs in the following seven areas:

  • Child and Youth Care
  • Classroom and Community Support
  • Community Social Service Workers
  • Early Childhood Education
  • Sign Language Interpretation
  • Therapeutic Recreation
  • Youth Justice

Each of the CFCS diploma programs has block transfer credit to a variety of degree programs at various degree granting institutions. The relevancy of the diploma programs to employment fields and degree programs is monitored by advisory committees made up of employers, past graduates, and academic articulation committees. All of our programs provide students with hands-on learning experiences through practicum placement in work sites. Students graduating from these programs experience a high rate of employment in a variety of community and government funded agencies. Prior learning assessment is available to applicants seeking credit for related work experience.

I invite you to view our web sites to see how we can help you achieve your learning and career goals. I wish you success and would welcome the opportunity to assist you. Our office number is 604-527-5484.
