Excel 2007: What's new and different?
Microsoft Office 2007 has a distinctive look and feel when it is compared to Office 2003. Explore these differences, learn where to find the tools you are accustomed to using and, very importantly, how to save so others can open your documents.
Excel: Essentials I
Learn how to enter formulas and use some of Excel's useful functions such as finding an average and other statistics, or converting a mark to a letter grade (vlookup). In this session you'll examine relative, absolute, and mixed cell referencing, and learn how to link worksheets so you can use information from different worksheets or workbooks. You'll also learn various formatting features and tricks..
Prerequisites:
- Basic Excel skills ( moving around a spreadsheet, selecting a range of cells, dates, AutoSum, copy/paste data/formulas.
Excel in Grading Part I: Recording Student Grades
This hands on workshop will give you the skills to easily and efficiently record student grades. Set up and format a simple grading spreadsheet to record, sort and track the details of your students' success. Download class lists from Web for Faculty and give you lots on hands-on practice.
Prerequisites:
- Windows and mouse skills (left- right- and double-click, highlight and select, copy/paste, menus and scrollbars, save documents so you can find them again)
- Employee number (look on your pay stub, NEW ID card, or ask Human Resources) for Web for Faculty
Excel in Grading Part II: Calculating Student Grades and Displaying Histograms
In Part II of Excel in Grading you will learn how to manipulate your student grade spreadsheets to calculate final percentages and create histograms to chart and analyze your student's progress. We will also show you how to use the VLOOKUP command that automatically translates final percentages into Douglas College letter grades.
Prerequisites:
- Excel in Grading Part I, or Excel Essentials I is essentia (moving around a spreadsheet, selecting range of cells, dates, AutoSum, copy/paste data/formulas, downloading grade sheet from Web for Faculty).
- Employee number (look on your pay stub or ask Human Resources) so you can access your Web for Faculty files.
Excel: Advanced Concepts I - Functions & Data Analysis
Build on your Excel knowledge and learn to work with more advanced functions, and formulas. You'll explore arrays, combine functions with data, and learn how to troubleshoot formulas. Let Excel figure out how to get the specific results you want, create decision-making formulas, and much more.
Prerequisites:
- Excel Essentials II (Intermediate) or equivalent is essential (relative/ absolute cell referencing, simple formulas, arithmetic and comparison operators)
Excel: Advanced Concepts II - Manipulating Data with Pivot Tables
In this advanced workshop, you'll learn how to manipulate and extract data from large worksheets of information using advanced concepts, including advanced sort and filter using complex criteria, PivotTables and PivotCharts, and more.
Prerequisites:
- Excel Essentials II (Intermediate) and Excel Sort and Filter or equivalent is essential (relative/ absolute cell referencing, simple formulas, arithmetic and comparison operators, named ranges, sort, AutoFilter)
