Douglas College campus update:

All campuses are open today and all classes and events are expected to take place as usual.

General information

In the case of severe weather conditions this winter, your best sources of information about campus closures are the Douglas College homepage and the information line at 1-877-679-0823.

Updates about weather-related closures will also be tweeted at twitter.com/douglascollege and posted on Facebook at facebook.com/douglascollege.

In the case of a closure, we will also send information to local radio stations, including CBC 690AM, CKWX 1130AM and CKNW 980AM.

This information will be updated as frequently as possible to ensure that Douglas students and employees remain up-to-date this winter. 

Traveling to and from campus

Please take extra caution when traveling to and from campus during adverse weather conditions. Before you leave, check BC Road Reports and/or Translink for possible closures or delays. You can also check current weather conditions.

Campus closure policy

Douglas College believes its facilities should remain open during normal college hours. However, the College realizes that under severe adverse weather conditions, building emergencies or for safety reasons, a campus location could be closed. In some cases, classes and events may be cancelled but buildings will remain open. In this case, students who choose to come to campus even if classes are cancelled may be able to use any services that are available, such as computer labs.

Procedures for staff (if College remains open)

If campuses remain open but you are unable to travel due to severe weather conditions, you should attempt to notify your supervisor.

If the College is open and weather conditions worsen, causing a closure, Facilities Services will work with the Marketing and Communications Office to inform all employees via GroupWise email in addition to the other methods mentioned above.

Procedures for faculty (if College remains open)

If campuses remain open but you are unable to make it to your class due to severe weather conditions, you should attempt to notify the Program Assistant in your area. You should also try to contact students in the cancelled class via myDouglas email or another method to prevent them from having to travel to campus unnecessarily.

If the College is open and weather conditions worsen, causing a closure, Facilities Services will work with the Marketing and Communications Office to inform all employees via GroupWise email in addition to the other methods mentioned above.
