About Us

We offer a variety of programs and services focused on student learning and instructional excellence from late August through to mid-June each year.

• Faculty Orientation  in late summer to familiarize new faculty with teaching, learning and working at Douglas.

• PD upon request   on topics such as classroom group work and grading rubrics.

• Ongoing workshops on teaching, learning, curriculum and assessment .

• A  Faculty Peer Mentoring Program (PeerFM) where new faculty meet with seasoned mentors over the year.

• Cohort-based Reading Circles where groups of College employees discuss a (complimentary) book about education.

• Research on teaching and learning events where faculty reflect, inquire and engage in research on classroom matters.

• Instructional Skills Workshops  - "Boot camps" where the basics of instruction are examined in four learning-rich days.

• Inquiry into, instructional matters that affect us all such as academic integrity and the Douglas College Academic Signature.

• Individual consultation  about many aspects of teaching and learning.
