Applying early - the smart step

Applying early is a smart and important step. It allows time to ensure your application is complete and to get all your documentation in to the Registrar's Office. And, you might be offered early admission! So don't wait - apply now!

Get started by checking the General Admission Requirements.

What is the first day I can apply?

You can generally apply up to a year in advance for the semester you want.

Tip: It's a good idea to check the Opening Dates below and apply within the first two months. It's particularly important to apply early for popular career programs such as Nursing which fill quickly.

Semester Opening Dates
Winter Semester:
(Jan-Apr)
First Day Applications Accepted - January 1 (preceding year)
Summer Semester:
(May-Aug)
First Day Applications Accepted - May 1 (preceding year)
Fall Semester:
(Sept-Dec)
First Day Applications Accepted - September 1 (preceding year) First Date for Grade 12 Students - Mid-October (preceding year)

Why do Grade 12 students have a different application start date?

The first Application date for Grade 12 students is six weeks later. This is to allow time for students to talk with secondary school counselors and staff before selecting a College program.

Applying later - important information about application deadlines

If you didn't apply early, it is important to get information about application deadlines for the program you want - particularly for many Limited Enrolment (career-training) programs. Access this information in the College Calendar .

I am getting ready to apply - what else should I do?

As you prepare for college, it's a great idea to go to a free Information Session for your program. Academic Advisors will answer questions about prerequisites you need, how to register, university course options and lots more. For some career programs, a faculty member will discuss the program and job opportunities.

What about Continuing and Community Education applications?

Continuing Education offers programs, courses, workshops and more in a wide range of subject areas. You don't need to apply for most Continuing Education programs. Just register online, by phone, mail, or in person.

The Training Group offers customized training services for individuals, businesses and government agencies. Contact the Training Group for information about particular programs, including how to apply and register.
