English as a Second Language (EASL)

Summer 2012 EASL Fees:  Effective Summer 2012, EASL courses are tuition free for eligible students.  Please see the information below for details on this new government initiative.

Eligibility for the U-Pass Program

In order to be eligible for the U-Pass program, students who are only taking EASL courses must have 12 or more hours of instructional class time per week.

Registration

Students who are taking EASL (English as a Second Language) courses at the 0100 or 0200 level may register using the Registration System or in person at the Registrar's Office. All other EASL courses must be added or dropped using the Registration System only.

  1. If you choose to register in person, before you go to the Registrar's Office you must fill out a Course Add Form with the courses you want to take. This form is available at the EASL office in room 4200 (New Westminster Campus) and room B2002 (David Lam Campus.) You do not need an instructor to sign this form.
  2. You must also take your EASL Assessment Result Sheet or your current enrolment sheet with you to the Registrar's Office.
  3. You may register in person on the date and time indicated on the Registration system, or any time after your registration date. You can only register if there is space available.
  4. If you need extra assistance with your registration, you should go to the EASL office: room 4200 at the New Westminster Campus or room B2002 at the David Lam Campus. You can also telephone the EASL office: 604-527-5463 (New Westminster) and 604-777-6196 (David Lam Campus in Coquitlam).
  5. If the course is full, you may choose to add your name to the on-line wait-list. Please read all the details for the on-line wait-list very carefully. (for example, it is very important for you to check your wait-list status often.)

Summer 2012 EASL Fees

Effective for the Summer 2012 semester, EASL courses will be tuition-free for eligible students.  Eligible students include Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, Live-in Caregivers and Refugees.  Mandatory fees such as the Student Union and Activity fees will continue to be charged for all students.  International students will be charged regular international tuition fees for all EASL courses.
