Are you ready?
Getting ready for College can be a confusing process - whether it’s your first time or you’re a returning student. Besides Academic Advising, Douglas has a variety of services to help make your transition a smooth one.
Information Sessions
Want to learn more about a program at Douglas College? Attend a free information session. It is a great way to get detailed information about a specific program. Sessions take place at both campuses throughout the year. You can find a current schedule at douglascollege.ca/info.
Assessment Services
Many courses and programs at Douglas College require completion of assessment tests. Assessments measure your current knowledge in a certain subject to help decide which level of course work is most appropriate for you. It is important to schedule these tests early so that there is sufficient time to get your results before you register for classes. To find out if the program or course you’re interested in requires assessment testing, visit the Assessment Testing website.
Career Counselling
Unsure about which career path to follow? Douglas College offers both group and individual career counselling services for students. Short one-session career planning consultation may be available at times for individuals who are not currently registered but are considering coming to Douglas College. For more information, see the Counselling Services website.
Developmental Studies
If you’ve been out of school for a while, or didn’t get the marks you wanted in high school, Douglas offers upgrading courses in reading, writing and math. And the best part – most Developmental Studies courses are tuition-free! For more info, see the Developmental Studies website.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
Douglas offers a number of different ESL programs, from beginner to academic to English for Foreign Trained Professionals. Many ESL programs require an assessment test. For more information, see the English as a Second Language website.
