Career goals:
To strengthen meaningful, reflective and enriching teaching approaches in early childhood education.
Future plans:
This spring, I will be completing my Special Needs Practicum in Jonkoping, Sweden but in another five years I will be continuing meaningful work in the world of early years education.
Why did you choose the field you did?
Because I have two children of my own.
Why did you choose your program at Douglas?
It was highly recommended by friends in the field.
What was the best thing about college?
Learning how to be an effective, collaborative teammate.
On balance:
Hardest thing about college was working full-time, and tests...I don’t like tests.
Important discovery:
That there are some incredible people blazing paths with a passion that is truly inspirational.
What was the craziest moment you had in class here?
Adding final touches to class presentations moments before going up next.
What advice do you have for your fellow grads?
Advocate early childhood educators as professionals with recognizable credentials so that we can be paid accordingly. Recruitment and retention in this field is a societal issue.
Advice to my 17-year-old self:
Build strong relationships, especially with yourself

People that live in the now.
