Terms of Reference
Purpose
To celebrate outstanding contributions of Douglas College employees to the betterment of the College and its community.
Eligibility
All employees are eligible for the awards.
The Award
The Award recognizes up to 3 employees for outstanding contributions to the learning and working environment that are reflective of the College's commitment to its goals for students and student learning, employees, physical resources and facilities and community outreach as set out in the strategic plan.
Process
Any employee may nominate an individual for the award.
All nominations shall be made in writing to the President's Distinguished Service Award Selection Committee in the form prescribed. Letters of Support are encouraged with your nomination.
Selection Committee
The President, one staff member, one faculty member and one administrator will form the Selection Committee.
Criteria
The Selection Committee will consider the following criteria in determining the award winners:
- Accomplishments within the position or beneficial to the Douglas Collegecommunity
- Resourcefulness, commitment to high standards, responsiveness to students and employees
- Dedication
- High level of integrity
- Inspiration to students, and employees
- Community Service (both on and off campus).
Presentation of Awards
The awards will be presented at the Annual Employee Recognition Reception, normally held in the Fall of each year.
